CE Symmetry manages all aspects necessary for faculty identification, content development, video capture, and post-production including completion of all required project components (both, technically and with regard to accreditation status) for video programs. All editorial and graphic design services related to video capture, post-production, and provision of the final video content are completed by the CES editorial and graphic teams, respectively.
Our video production team is headed by a 30-year multiple award-winning television producer/director who is also an adjunct professor of Film and Television at The Academy for Film and Television in Norwalk, Connecticut.
The CE Symmetry team maintains an exceptionally high level of video capture and production standards, including:
- Ensuring that on-camera talent is both engaged and engaging: Far too many on-camera personalities in education programs in general, and medical programs in particular, tend to speak in a monotone or something close to it. Humans gravitate toward engaging personalities and tend to mentally disconnect from monotonic presentations, even when they are interested in the content. We are expert in obtaining on-camera engagement which is critical to viewer engagement, and, hence, the learning process. We also engage hair and makeup artists to ensure on-camera talent are at their visual best.
- Clarity and quality of image: The right choice of camera and lighting, coupled with the careful selection of appropriate camera angles, places the viewer focus on the presenter(s), which in turn enables the viewer to zero in on the content without distractions. Visually noisy or improperly focused images, overly flat lighting, washed out colors, lack of backlights or hair lights, or other visual defects, tend to distract from presenters and content. Our attention to the visual quality of each image contributes strongly to the learner’s ability to fully engage with and follow the content.
- Clarity of sound: Talk-show or lecture-format videos rely heavily on the spoken word. Distorted or low-quality audio, excessive background noise or rumble, echo or room reverberation all serve as distractions and consume some of the mental energy that should be focused on course content. The use of appropriate high-quality lavaliere microphones, digital noise reduction, active mixing and other audio processing ensures full audio intelligibility and enables the viewer to concentrate on the presenters’ words.
- Graphics: Our unparalleled graphics content is derived from the presenting experts’ original presentation materials and graphically enhanced by a team that combines medical experts and broadcast graphics professionals.
It must also be noted here that video is a scalable medium – that beyond the baseline issues, greater budgets allow for enhanced production values which in turn lead to greater visual and audio engagement. Higher quality backgrounds and graphics, larger discussion panels, etc., further improve the quality and variety of audible and visual inputs and emotional cues, all of which enhance and help maintain viewer engagement. CE Symmetry can produce these elements at multiple budget levels depending upon available resources and budget targets, in each case working to maximize the results of every budgeted dollar.
